Iran reveals more than 1,000 gender reassignment operations in four years
An Iranian news service has said that more than one thousand Iranians have undergone gender reassignment surgery in the Islamic State between 2006 and 2010
Khabar-on-line reports that 1,366 Iranians acquired permits to perform gender confirmation surgery. The figures reveal that 56 per cent were male-to-female procedures .
Iranians that wish to undergo surgery must apply to the courts for a permit that is signed off by the state medical office.
