UK: Former policeman accused of stabbing wife to death after revealing gay affair
A former Kent policeman told his wife he was involved in a sexual relationship with another man months before he stabbed her to death at her hair salon, a court has heard.
Ivan Esack, 38, suggested that Natalie Esack undergo tests for sexually transmitted diseases because of his love affair with another man, jurors were told at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday.
The deceased previously received messages from the former Kent Police officer saying that she “couldn’t compare” to his gay partner, named only as Louis.
One of her friends and colleagues, Rachael Beaumont, told the court that the disclosure to Mrs Esack of the relationship left her “mortified”.
The court has heard that Mr Esack, of Rosewood Avenue, Ashford, denies murder but should be found guilty of the lesser offence of manslaughter because his responsibility was diminished and he was suffering from a recognised mental condition at the time of the incident.
He is accused of fatally stabbing Mrs Esack up to 11 times at her hair salon in Ashford, Kent, on April 30.
