Heated equal marriage debate pair release single in support of marriage equality
Two celebrities from the US who were featured in a fiery online debate over equal marriage, have now teamed up to release a single together, in support of marriage equality.
Adam Barta, a Billboard Top 20 selling artist, and Angelina Pivarnick, former Jersey Shore cast member, featured in a heated video debate around equal marriage, which was shown online in October.
Now the pair have teamed up to release a single titled, Serendipity, which Mr Barta said came from Ms Pivarnick’s “desire to show support for equality with the gay community”.
Mr Barta, who defended equal marriage in the debate, since said that he saw a huge amount of new support for equal marriage, as a result of the controversy. Speaking about their new single, he said:
“It’s a song about following your dreams and not letting anyone stop you from achieving them. And being in the right place at the right time. I wanted to write something that shows that life really is Serendipity. Chance can dictate what opportunities you may have at any given time, but it’s up to us to take those opportunities and make our dreams a reality.”
Ms Pivarnick previously apologised for her “ignorant” comments, said she was now in support of the move towards marriage equality, and that she would give her time to a fundraising event in New York, later in the year. On the single, she said:
“I’m really excited to be performing with Adam who has had Billboard success and #1 music videos on the LOGO network. I’m excited about it for my gay fans. What you see in the media is not the real me. Gay people should be married. I should be allowed to change my mind on this.”
The former Couples Therapy TV star, Pivarnick, continued:
“I’m going to have an opportunity to perform this song at the gay clubs and meet everyone and I can show how much in love with them I am. I can show the side to me that I’m fun Angelina – not the villain Angelina. This is my chance to rise from all the turmoil in the past few years. This is my rebirth and showing the world a different side to just be me.”
Both Adam Barta and Angelina Pivarnick plan to perform the single in gay and straight venues, and have both vowed to volunteer, separately, on marriage equality events for charities GLAAD and ICNY. The song is available on iTunes, with a portion of proceeds going to aid Hurricane Sandy victims.
