Charlie Sheen apologises for homophobic rant after backlash

Actor Charlie Sheen, sparked controversy when he took to the stage in Cabo, Mexico, to promote the opening of his new bar, as he used a homophobic slur.
In a video published by TMZ, the Anger Management, star addressed the audience at the El Ganzo hotel, where his new bar is based. In the video he said:
“How we doing? … Lying bunch of f**got a**holes, how we doing?”
The 47 year old hosted the event attended by Guns N Roses guitarist, Slash, who also performed for the audience, as well as Los Angeles mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa.
Mr Sheen also tweeted a photograph of himself and the LA mayor, along with text which read:
“From Boyle Heights 2 Mayor of LA..! …. Antonio Villaraigosa knows how to party!”
The TV and film actor has now apologised for the comments, and any offence they may have caused. He said:
“I meant no ill will and intended to hurt no one and I apologize if I offended anyone…Â I meant to say maggot but I have a lisp.”
