US: American Idol’s Fantasia defends same-sex marriage rant
American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino has hit back at the media after her comments about same-sex marriage were apparently “taken out of context.”
The singer’s comments were allegedly to express her feelings about those who judge her, but her comments were viewed as homophobic.
She responded to the backlash saying, “My statement was to those who sit back and try to judge me.”
She continued, “I don’t care who gets married or who you lay with, hang with or want to be like,” she said.
“It’s your life live it. Now go ahead take this and turn it around but I’m still here cause Got [sic] put me here. Check my spelling and my grammer whatever you need to do. This is sad and im done with this media stuff.”
The 28-year-old winner of American Idol season three wrote that she was “blown away” by the sudden attention from the media.
