Video: US lawyers claim that Boy Scouts cannot remain ‘morally straight’ with gay scout leaders
Two Christian lawyers in the US have claimed that the Boy Scouts could not remain “morally straight” if it allowed gay scout masters, compared homosexuality with paedophilia and suggested gay scout masters would put boy scouts at risk.
On the Faith and Freedom radio program, Seventh Day Adventist pastor, Mat Staver, and the head of Christian legal firm, Liberty Counsel, Matt Barber, discussed the decision of the Boy Scouts of America to delay its vote on whether to allow gay members, volunteers and staff.
Right Wing Watch posted the video, during which the pair say that there was no way that boy scouts could remain “morally straight”, if “you have adults modelling for children what every major world religion and thousands of years of history have held to be immoral behaviour.”
Barber says that gay “behaviour” is “immoral” and “self destructive” both “medically” and “spiritually”.
Staver goes on to refer to Jerry Sandusky, a convicted paedophile who was married to a woman, and so wouldn’t have been affected by the ban on gay members.
He says: “It makes no sense to have a Jerry Sandusky as your scout master and essentially that’s what this policy would open up the doors to”.
Barber says that gay activsts were demanding access to children, and asked “what father in his right mind” would allow his son to join the scouts if he knew that gay men could be scout leaders.
He suggested that allowing gay men would put boy scouts at risk as they inherently “sexually crave sex with other males” describing gay men as “hyper-sexual”.
Staver then says it is “interesting” that gay people “define their entire identities with sexual acts”, whereas “heterosexuals don’t”.
He said that “The Prince of the Earth”, or Satan, was behind pressure to drop its anti-gay ban.
