Frank Ocean: It was ‘glorious’ to win my first BRIT Award
Bisexual R&B singer Frank Ocean has described winning his first BRIT Award as “glorious” and says that he felt as though he was skydiving.
The Pyramids singer won the Best International Male Solo Award on Wednesday evening following on from the success of his debut album Channel Orange, fending off competition from Michael Buble, Bruce Springsteen, Jack White and Gotye.
“I felt like I was skydiving. It was glorious,” he said. When quizzed on where his BRIT Award will take pride of place, Ocean replied: “I’m a real fan of the artist Damien Hirst and I’ve got a fancy little shelf in my apartment so I’ll put it up there or send it to my Mum. I don’t know, I haven’t decided.”
During his acceptance speech, Ocean said: “Before this year I didn’t get many trophies in my life, and I’m definitely a long way from working fast food in New Orleans so thank you for this!”
However, Ocean decided not to press charges.
