Texas teen boy fights to wear dress to high school prom

A high school senior in Texas is fighting to wear a red dress, high heels and a blonde wig to a school prom.

Tony Zamazal, a student at Spring High School in Texas, feels more comfortable dressing as a woman and has been wearing women’s clothing as often as he can, reports KHOU.com.

The student explains that he was ready to make his big debut dressed as a woman at his high school prom but claims the school’s assistant principal, who is in charge of prom dress code, said no.

Zamazal claims: “He told me it just wasn’t in the dress code. [the principal said] ‘women wore dresses, and men wore tuxedos’.”

Not satisfied with what the assistant principal had to say, Zamazal is now ready to take a stand.

“If I do get to go as a woman, I will be ecstatic,” explains Zamazal. “If I don’t, it would be devastating, because I put myself out there.”

Zamazal added: “It’s not okay to just tell people, they can’t be the way that they are. It’s not just a choice of the way you look. It’s more of who you are.”

A spokeswoman for Spring Independent School District says Mr Zamazal can fight this by taking his request to the principal of Spring High School.

The spokeswoman was not able to explain the dress code policy for school dances.
