Several members of the team behind former station GaydarRadio are working with the Jemm Media Group to launch three new internet based music radio stations.

Jemm Radio launches on 3 April with pop and dance music station Jemm One.

Ex-GaydarRadio breakfast DJs Neil Sexton and Debbie Ryan will present the Jemm One breakfast show.

GaydarRadio’s former head of music Phil Marriott becomes Jemm One’s 5pm – 8pm evening show presenter and has been given responsibility for the station’s music output.

Jemm One will then be followed on 1 May with the arrival on Jemm Two, a station dedicated to alternative, indie and rock, along with the arrival on Jemm Three on 29 May, a station featuring a mixture of stage and screen musical numbers.

Music programming on Jemm Three is headed by Stephen Beeny, former editor of GaydarNation.

Jemm has hired Sony award-winning producer Robin Crowley as managing director of its new radio services division. Mr Crowley, formerly programme controller of GaydarRadio, heads a six strong production team.

Mr Crowley said: “Three highly distinctive and authentic music led radio networks which are each driven by audience interactivity and user generated content. Jemm One brings back to air the unique talent and sound that made GaydarRadio a Sony award-winning network.

“Jemm Two will focus on current and unsigned bands and new British talent and Jemm Three serves those audiences who are propelling the big, bouncy West End and Broadway fan bases. Think Glee meets Book of Mormon and you have the UK’s first ever radio network dedicated to the world of contemporary musicals.”

Jemm CEO Matt Whaley said: “With our knowledge of real time bidding, creating our own inventory to maximise the best opportunities for advertisers is a natural progression for Jemm Media Group. Combining our technical, advertising and content knowledge will be exciting for both the advertiser and the consumer.”

At the start of 2013, GaydarRadio, previously the UK’s largest station for the LGBT community was closed by its owners QSoft Consulting LTD.

QSoft, which also runs the dating site Gaydar.co.uk, said it took the decision as a result of the financial challenges in the digital radio sector.

Gaydio, a not-for-profit station in Manchester was given GaydarRadio’s DAB licences for London and the Sussex Coast.

Just days after shutting GaydarRadio, QSoft Consulting, announced the closure of its central London bar, Profile, after it was revealed Bar Profile Limited had a debt of £2,953,452.

Last month, Sauce FM, a new LGBT internet based radio station was launched in Brighton. Former GaydarRadio DJ Simon LeVans is currently the station’s afternoon presenter.
