Massachusetts: Pro-gay play deemed ‘blasphemous’ takes places at school without incident
A controversial high school play has been performed without incident in Massachusetts, although anti-gay protesters turned up to picket outside.
“The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told” is a gay spoof on the Bible featuring Adam and Steve, and Jane and Mabel, a lesbian couple with whom they decide to start civilisation with.
The first part of the play takes place in biblical times – but the second half is in modern day Manhattan.
Fundamentalist Christians had protested the play, calling it “blasphemous” and “hateful.”
Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Public Charter School in South Hadley, Massachusetts, staged the play over the weekend.
Protesters on both sides showed up with signs, but remained respectful.
