Canadian gay porn actor accused of murdering Chinese lover collapses in court
A Canadian gay porn actor accused of killing and dismembering his Chinese lover collapsed in court yesterday.
Luka Rocco Magnotta, 30, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Jun Lin, 33, a Chinese-born student who was studying engineering at Concordia University in Montreal.
During a hearing at Montreal court on Tuesday, Magnotta collapsed to the floor, prompting the judge to suspend the hearing for the rest of the day.
“He really doesn’t feel well and he’s not able to continue,” defence lawyer Luc Leclair told the judge, the Associated Press reports.
Magnotta seemed distressed and had asked for a break after prosecutors presented graphic evidence of his alleged actions.
The 30-year-old is accused of committing indignities to a human corpse, mailing obscene materials, publishing obscene materials and threatening public officials.
Evidence in the case is subject to a publication ban. But reporters in the courtroom said Magnotta’s eyes were closed for much of the hearing and at times he appeared to wipe away tears.
Arrested last June in Germany and extradited after fleeing Canada, Magnotta has pleaded not guilty.
If convicted, Magnotta faces life imprisonment.
