Adam Lambert to be honoured with GLAAD Media Award
GLAAD, the LGBT media advocacy organisation, has announced that singer Adam Lambert will be honoured with an award at its 24th annual Media Awards in May.
Lambert will receive the Davidson/Valentini Awards at the 24th annual GLAAD Media Awards on 11 May at the Hilton Hotel in San Francisco.
“Adam Lambert’s continued success as one of the world’s best-selling pop stars shows LGBT people that they can be themselves and make it in a mainstream industry that many feel unfairly rejects them,” GLAAD’s Wilson Cruz said in a statement. “Adam is fearless on stage and astonishes audiences in every country he performs in.”
The awards are presented nationally by Ketel One Vodka and Wells Fargo. This is the second time Lambert has been honoured with an award, as he was also a recipient in 2010.
Television presenter Anderson Cooper was recently presented with the Vito Russo award in New York. Madonna presented the award.
The organisation has formally dropped the words ‘Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation’ from its name and will now be known as simply GLAAD, the LGBT media advocacy organisation.
He was also recently announced as the headline act for Pittsburg’s Pride in the Street festival on 15 June.
