Video: Young boy shouts anti-gay abuse at worshippers from pro-LGBT North Carolina church

Footage has emerged of a child shouting that gay people are going to “hell” outside a church in the US state of North Carolina.

Rawstory.com reports the young boy – who seems to be getting encouragement from an adult – staged the protest outside a church in Winston-Salem last Sunday in response to its decision not to host any weddings until same-sex marriage is legalised in the state.

Kelly Carpenter, the pastor of Green Street United Methodist Church, said last month that no weddings were being scheduled because his congregation was becoming more diverse and the heterosexual members wanted same-sex couples to “share a sense of the love that they have found.”

In May 2012, North Carolina voters approved a constitutional ban on equal marriage, which over 60% of voters favoured.

The United Methodist Church also bans gay people from serving as clergy.
