Staffordshire: UKIP election leaflet mocks bisexuals and warns of explicit ‘Homosexual Sex Education’
The name of a UK Independence Party (UKIP) candidate in Staffordshire has appeared on an election leaflet that mocks bisexuals, blasts the government’s same-sex marriage bill, and warns that it will lead to explicit “Homosexual Sex Education”.
The leaflet lists several statements by the Society for the Protection of the Unborn Child (SPUC), an anti-abortion lobby group which is opposed to equal marriage.
The statements include: “Explicit sex education is occurring in our children’s schools. When the ‘Gay Marriage Bill’ becomes law, explicit ‘Homosexual Sex Education’ will have to be taught to keep schools within the law of the 2010 Equality Bill. In 2011, £203,508 of your money was given by the Con/Lib Dem coalition to further promote homosexual education in schools.”
“Teachers who cannot teach that homosexuality is an equal lifestyle to heterosexuality will be sacked.”
“Although the legal age of consent in the UK is 16, you will be aware that prosecutions are rarely brought for under-age sex when the victims are 13 to 15-years-old. On ‘equality’ grounds, the homosexual abuse of children will be treated in a similar way.”
A PinkNews reader in Staffordshire said she was “shocked” to find that the “disgusting” and widely misinformed leaflet had been placed through a friend’s letter box on Friday morning.
It urged: “Vote David Nixon – UK Independence Party” – and stated that it had been “published and promoted by David Nixon”.
The candidate is standing for the Stone Rural ward in Staffordshire as part of next month’s local elections.
Nixon has already served on Staffordshire County Council as a councillor for Silverdale and Cross Heath.
According to the community website A Little Bit of Stone, Nixon describes himself as in his sixties “married with three sons” and “a Christian.”
Nixon’s leaflet illustrated a cartoon of a young boy holding a placard which said: “Rights for Bi-Sexuals We demand the right to marry With (at least) one man and one woman.”
Below it said: “Where will it end? – A child should have the right to a mother and a father.”
The leaflet also declared: “David Cameron stated before the last election that he had no plans to redefine marriage. Another‘ Cast Iron’ guarantee broken!”
However, entering the May 2010 general election, the Conservative Party’s Equalities Contract said: “[we] will also consider the case for changing the law to allow civil partnerships to be called and classified as marriage.”
In April 2010, David Cameron told PinkNews: “I’m open to changing things further to guarantee equality.”
In the same month their youth chairman was allegedly sacked because of his support for equal marriage – UKIP which only officially support civil partnerships – denied the claims.
