US radio host: Beware of plan to ‘homosexualize the Scouts’ through ‘boy-on-boy homosexual promotion’

A US radio host has spoken out against the Boy Scouts of America’s (BSA) recent announcement that it may lift its ban on gay members, but retain its ban on gay scout leaders, to say it would be “dangerous”, and would “homosexualize” the organisation.

The BSA last week proposed to lift the ban on gay youth members but said that it may continue to exclude gay adults as leaders.

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality, made the claims during an interview with VCY’s programme ‘Crosstalk’, reports Right Wing Watch.

He argues that the BSA should have stood by its previous decision to continue to discriminate against openly gay members, volunteers and staff. He goes on to claim that allowing gay scout leaders would make the organisation “totally pro-homosexual”.

He said: “The Boy Scouts have really made a treacherous move and I think some pro-family leaders, some conservatives and some Christians have said ā€˜okay Iā€™m already done with the Scouts.ā€™

“They are so appalled that the Scouts would move in this direction after they had already won, remember the Boy Scouts won in the Supreme Court, they won their constitutional right to live by their own standard, it was upheld by the Supreme Court.

“This would just lead to another court challenge that would make the scouts totally pro-homosexual because once you make the compromise and say that you can have scout kids of course the homosexual lawyers will challenge the adults, it will completely homosexualize the scouts, it will lead to more gay activism and I think it will destroy the scouts and their numbers will begin to plummet.”

LaBarbera goes on to claim that scouts talking about their “openly gay lifestyle”, would lead to a “mimicking”, of the “immoral things” seen by children in the “homosexual world”.

“We have to remember that boy-on-boy homosexual promotion is also dangerous. I donā€™t think any parent wants a boy coming in talking about his openly gay lifestyle. We know from homosexual activism ā€” Iā€™ve been witnessing it for over twenty years ā€” the sorts of things that are espoused in homosexuality are not morally straight. A lot of times you are seeing young people mimicking the sort of immoral things they see in the adult homosexual world.”

He concludes by saying: “We simply donā€™t want homosexuality in the scouts in any way.”

The BSA is under pressure from religious organisations which have put pressure on it not to change its policy.

In July 2012, after a two year review, the Boy Scouts of America announced it would retain its ban on gay members, volunteers and staff.

Thousands of scouts have spoken out against the policy, and more than 1.2 million Americans signed petitions against it, according to Scouts forĀ Equality.

LaBarbera previously weighed in on the debate about equal marriage, commenting on a TIME magazine cover featuring a gay kiss, and calling it a ā€œperversionā€.

The cover of the latest edition of TIME magazine was revealed at the end of March, and features an image of same-sex couples kissing, accompanied by the text: ā€œGay marriage already wonā€.

He previously appeared on the Janet Mefferd Christian radio show, andĀ said that ā€œgay activistsā€ are ā€œthe most intolerant people on the planetā€, and that they are ā€œup there with theĀ jihadistsā€.
