Bryan Fischer: Jason Collins will be rejected by teammates for ‘eyeballing’ them in the shower
US Christian radio host Bryan Fischer, has weighed in on media attention surrounding NBA star Jason Collins’ coming out, to say that teammates, and teams would reject him because he would be “eyeballing” men in the shower.
Jason Collins yesterday spoke about his sexuality, confirming he is gay in an article in Sports Illustrated magazine. He said: “I’m a 34-year-old NBA center. I’m black. And I’m gay.
In the video, posted by Right Wing Watch, Fischer notes that Collins is an Alumni of Stanford University, the same as he is, and goes on to discuss his recent coming out, suggesting that he will struggle to find work, as he will be rejected by teammates.
Citing the title of Collins’ piece for Sports Illiustrated which asked “Why Jason Collins is coming out now?”, Fischer responds that it is because it is the off season.
He says: “The answer is easy – it’s the end of the season. The season is over. They’ve got the entire off season to figure out what they are gonna do about this next year.”
Going on to claim that players, and their wives, would reject Collins for “eyeballing” them in the shower, and that he would not be signed by another team because of that.
“Now, I will guarantee you that, if the ownership of whatever team was thinking about bringing him back, or thinking about trading for him, and they go to the players on that team, and they say ‘how do you feel about an out, active, homosexual being in the same locker room, sharing the same shower facilities with you?’ they’d say ‘no way – I do not want some guy, a teammate, eyeballing me in the shower, and my wife does not want that.'”
