In an interview, US Christian radio host Bryan Fischer, has continually refused to answer the question of whether he had ever had a “gay impulse”, saying it would “destroy” people if they “acted on… certain sexual impulses.”

The American Family Association’s spokesman appeared on Liberal radio, hosted by Alan Colmes, who asked him a “simple yes or no question” on whether he had ever had a “gay impulse”.

Colmes asked:Ā ā€œHave you ever had a gay impulse?ā€, followed by:Ā ā€œItā€™s a simple yes or no question,” reports Right Wing Watch.

Fischer responded:Ā ā€œAlan, I am not going to talk about that,ā€ laughing. ā€œAlan, Iā€™m not going to go there! Give it a rest!ā€, he continued.

ā€œWeā€™re not going to talk about that,ā€ Fischer eventually insisted.

Colmes said that Fischer could be a good example to gay men and lesbians, if he had “chosen” to be straight, and if he talked openly about it.

ā€œBecause maybe if youā€™ve been able to overcome your gay impulses and youā€™ve been successful in doing it, you could be a model for other people youā€™d like to see act the same way,ā€ Colmes said.

Fischer went on to say:Ā ā€œThe focus here, Alan, is that everybody experiences sexual impulses that if they acted on those impulses, it would destroy them.”

ā€œWell, can you give me an example from your own life? What would be some of yours?ā€ Colmes continued.

Fischer then responded: ā€œYouā€™ve experienced them, Iā€™ve experienced them. Every man, every woman has experienced certain sexual impulses that, if they acted on them, if they conducted themselves by yielding to those impulses, it would destroy them… Ask Tiger Woods about that.ā€

ā€œI donā€™t think Iā€™ve ever had sexual impulses that would destroy the society or the culture or make me a deviant in some way,ā€ Colmes then said. ā€œI wonder what impulses youā€™re talking about. If youā€™ve had them, Iā€™d love to know what they are.ā€

ā€œWell the focus Alan is on sexual conduct, sexual behavior, not on sexual impulse,ā€ Fischer retorted

ā€œSo you wonā€™t tell me whether you yourself have been able to overcome a gay impulse?ā€ Colmes asked, to which Fischer snapped:Ā ā€œAlan, give it a rest.”

Fischer recently weighed in on media attention surrounding NBA star Jason Collinsā€™ coming out, to say that teammates, and teams would reject him because he would be ā€œeyeballingā€ men in theĀ shower.
