US: American Idol star Adam Lambert to join the cast of Glee
Gay former American Idol singer Adam Lambert will be joining the cast of Glee, it was revealed yesterday.
The news was revealed by Ryan Murphy, the series co-creator, yesterday on Twitter.
He said: “I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall.”
The 31-year-old pop singer finished as runner-up on American Idol in 2009, and has since sung live with Queen and released two solo albums.
His second record went straight to the top of US charts last year, and reached the number 16 spot in the UK charts.
It is unclear what part Adam Lambert will play on Glee and whether or not he will become a series regular.
Writing on Twitter, cast member Lea Michele said: “Omg so excited that @adamlambert is going to be on #Glee this season! I hope he’s with me in NYC! #GleeSeason5.”
The fourth series of Glee was shown on Sky1 in the UK with the fifth season starting in September in the US.
