Nickelodeon star Lucas Cruikshank reveals he’s gay and asks why straight people don’t come out too
The US children’s TV presenter Lucas Cruikshank has publicly come out as gay in a YouTube video shot with British actress Jennifer Veal.
The 19-year-old made a name for himself through viral YouTube videos as ‘Fred’, before switching to kids TV on Nickelodeon.
In a video answering fan questions with his friend Jennifer Veal who appears in the Disney Channel show Jessie, Cruikshank revealed that he is gay.
“I’m gay. It’s so weird saying it on camera,’ Lucas answered a fan. “My family and friends have known for like three years and I just haven’t felt the need to announce it on the Internet.”
After hugging his friend, Cruickshank asked Veal: “How come you didn’t have to make a video saying you’re straight?”
