London HIV charity runs fundraising Christmas cookery classes
London HIV charity The Food Chain is running corporate Christmas cookery classes to raise money for people living with HIV in the capital.
The Food Chain exists to ensure people living with HIV in London can access the nutrition they need to get well, stay well and lead healthy, independent lives. In collaboration with Vanilla Orchid Bakery’s founder Hope Mutongwizo they have put together a program of Christmas Cookery Classes, which will take place in their King’s Cross Kitchen.
At the end of the 1/2 or full days session, teams of 6-12 people will leave with boxes of homemade goodies as well as learning new cooking and decorating techniques to use at home.
There are two different programs on offer. A full day class where guests will learn to make their own Christmas Hamper with goodies including hand decorated christmas cookies, a selection of rich Christmas truffles, classic all butter spiced mince pies and a cranberry and apple jam.
The half day class – special Christmas cup cakes where participants will learn to bake delicious fillings, perfect the art of icing and acquire new skills and techniques to decorate their own individual cakes.
Classes start from £80 per person with all proceeds going to The Food Chain.

In 2011 the charity was awarded a £1 million sponsorship from the Elton John AIDS Foundation, and has since moved to a new office near King’s Cross, giving the organisation access to a kitchen 7 days a week for the first time.
