Graham Norton describes how he revisited the place he was once stabbed and left for dead in London
Graham Norton, in a recent interview, revealed how he revisited the place where he was once stabbed and left for dead following a mugging in London.
The 50-year-old TV and radio presenter explained to The Mirror how he ended up a few days ago in the exact location where he was stabbed 25 years ago.
He said: “I had a bizarre travelling experience this week. I had to travel across London in my car. I was filming a BBC Christmas trailer – I hate filming Christmas trailers.
“So I was getting there fuming, thinking: ‘I really don’t want to do this’. What are the chances, I get to the location, and they are filming in a house outside of which in 1988, I was stabbed and left for dead.
“What are the chances of that?”
He jokingly added: “As I pulled out – I thought: ‘This looks familiar.’ It was serious at the time, it’s fine now, like a lot of people, I got over it. People should do that I think.”
Graham previously revealed how he had been robbed and then stabbed.
He said: “It was very serious. It was a mugging, I didn’t even realise I’d been stabbed in that classic way, because your adrenaline is pumping.
“I looked down, and I saw all this blood. I lost a bit over half my blood. So it was very touch and go, I think.”
The entertainer said the brutal incident had left him with “a real perspective on this”, and it helped him accept rejection in his career.
“I was in my final year at drama school. The casting, and the people wanting to be seen by agents, and there was other door-slamming and running into toilets, and I was like ‘Myehh! You’re alive, shut up.’ It was good for me.”
“I think you want to bring up your child with someone. There are lots of great single parents out there but I’m lazier than they are so I’d quite like to share the responsibility.”
