NFL player made to apologise for anti-gay slur on live radio
A former NFL player has come under heavy criticism, and was made to apologise live on air on a radio station, after he used a homophobic slur to describe a fellow former player.
Former Redskins player Dexter Manley on Monday referred to Fox NFL analyst and former pro-football star Troy Aikman, “queer”, during a segment of analysis on WTOP radio.
He used the slur when he was asked whether he thought Aiken’s presence was bad luck.
The WTOP host insisted that Manley apologise, and after declining, he reluctantly obeyed.
The station’s Vice President of News and Programming Jim Farley, replied to alistener on Twitter to say that the station was shocked by the slur, and that Manly would not be making an appearance following the comment.
