Video: Illinois man launches into vicious anti-gay rant condemning same-sex marriage
A man aboard a bus in Chicago was caught on camera recently as he launched into a homophobic tirade against Illinois’ recently passed same-sex marriage bill.
The video, which contains strong language, depicts a man standing and shouting at a fellow passenger about “rapists and paedophiles” as well as “homosexuals.”
He claims that same-sex marriage legitimises the raping and “burning” of young children, before screaming “f*** you, you satan-worshipping low-life” to a passenger attempting to speak back.
So far, the video has amassed over 30,000 views on Youtube since it was reported on the Huffington Post.
The Illinois General Assembly passed the state’s equal marriage bill earlier this month.
The Illinois House voted 61-54 in favour of making same-sex marriage legal.
“As I said in my Inaugural Address last January, our journey as a nation is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law, for if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well. And tonight, I’m so proud that the men and women elected to serve the people of the great state of Illinois have chosen to take us one step further on that journey to perfect our union.”
Alongside Hawaii, which also recently passed its same-sex marriage bill in the House of Representatives, Illinois may either be the 15th or 16th state to allow same-sex marriage.
Under the marriage measure ‘SB10’ same-sex couples can get married in Illinois from June 2014.
