UK: Labour councillor denies using anti-gay slur in argument with colleague
A Labour councillor in Rochdale denies accusations of homophobia, following an investigation by police.
He denies using a homophobic slur during a row with fellow Labour Councillor Neil Emmott.
Manchester Evening News reports Mr Ahmed said: “The police are carrying out their enquiries, which I am cooperating with, and I am waiting to hear from them.
“I deny any allegation that I am homophobic, that is nonsense. There was an argument with Neil Emmott, but I can’t say too much more at the minute.”
He added: “I have had a lot of support from people since this has happened who know me and know I am not homophobic.”
