Colombia: Politician wants to ban Shakira for ‘promoting lesbianism’ with Rihanna
An anti-gay politician wants to ban Shakira from her homeland because he’s outraged at her new music video.
Marco Fidel Ramirez, of the Public Option party, took exception at the ‘Can’t Remember To Forget You’ music video, which shows the singer frolicking around in her underwear with Rihanna, and smoking cigars.
The music video was released last week, and has so far accumulated over 85 million views.
Ramirez tweeted: “Shakira’s new video is a shameless case for lesbianism and immorality. It is a danger to children.”
“Our Shakira with her erotic video is promoting tobacco usage and has become the worst example for our youth.”
He has since started a petition to get the singer banned from the country, saying that she “damages the moral character of the youth of Bogota, Colombia and Latin America” and is responsible for “moral decay”.
He has also called on the National Television Authority to ban the singer’s videos from music channels.
