Google rebrands to highlight homophobia in Russia on eve of Sochi Olympics
Google has rebranded itself ahead of the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics, held in the Russian city of Sochi.
The Google homepage now features this ‘Google Doodle’:-
The text underneath the restyled version of the Google logo reads: “‘The practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibility of practicing sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play’ –Olympic Charter”
The Google logo on search pages now looks like this:-
Every year, Google celebrates LGBT pride with a rainbow theme on gay related searches and has commemorated the gay war hero Alan Turing, who was last year pardoned by the Queen for his prosecution for homosexual activity.
