Will you host a ‘Dinner for One’ to support efforts against HIV in Asia and Africa?
A charity which aims to save the lives of people living with HIV or AIDS in Africa and Asia is calling for participants to take part in a unique fundraising dinner event.
Aids Ark is a charity which works in Asia and Africa, aiming to provide people diagnosed with HIV with antiretroviral drugs otherwise inaccessible for them.
This year ‘Dinner for One’ takes place on 1 March.
Supporters register with Aids Ark and host a dinner at home, inviting their friends. Every dinner guest makes a donation so that each individual event raises at least £300.
The £300 minimum covers the cost of ARV medication and associated care which can save the life of one person living with HIV for one year.
Afterwards, all the diners get together for a party where there will be exclusive use of Adam St Private Member’s Club with DJs, drinks and dancing until 3am.
The charity’s overhead costs are covered by founder trustees so the money raised through each dinner and the after party all goes to saving lives.
The event started in 2012 and raised £16,000 from almost 50 (mainly gay) dinners in London, New York, LA, Malta and Cape Town. In 2013, it raised £33,000, and in 2014 it aims to grow even bigger.
