Canterbury Cathedral blocks worshippers and tea-drinkers from accessing hardcore porn
Canterbury Cathedral has blocked worshippers and customers in its café from accessing hardcore pornography.
Mnagement at the sixth century cathedral said it wanted to stop patrons from using “debasing” websites whilst using the wifi in its new café.
Speaking to the Evening Standard, Christopher Robinson said: “It’s really a safeguarding process. What we wanted is to provide free Wifi for members of the public, but we didn’t want salacious or debasing sites being accessed.”
The revelation comes following a decision to shut-down the public wifi at Chester Cathedral after it became clear that customers could too easily access porn whilst enjoying afternoon tea.
Purple Wifi, the cathedral’s provider, said around 58% of venues offering free wifi do so without such a filter.
