Recon raises £16,000 for Freddie Mercury HIV charity
Fetish website Recon has raised £16,035 for the Mercury Phoenix Trust – set up in memory of the late Queen singer Freddie Mercury.
Donations were made by users on the site as part of fund raising efforts around last December’s World AIDS Day.
The Trust helps those living with HIV by raising awareness and funding charities globally.
It was set up by Queen band members Brian May and Roger Taylor in honour of Freddie in 1992.
Emma Donahue, from the Trust, said: “Every year sees a new generation of sexually active kids risk contracting HIV through ignorance. I would like to thank Recon members for their generosity to help us continue our work. This is an amazing sum.”
Freddie Mercury died aged 45 of bronchopneumonia brought on by AIDS on 24 November 1991, only one day after publicly acknowledging that he had the disease.
