Lorde tells fans to ‘wear rainbow clothes and make out’ when Westboro Baptist Church pickets show
Singer Lorde has struck out at the Westboro Baptist Church, after learning they plan to picket one of her shows.
The ‘Royals’ singer took to Twitter to warn fans that the notoriously homophobic church would be protesting at her upcoming show in Kansas City, linking to the schedule on their website.
She encouraged anyone attending the concert to wear rainbow clothing in protest, and to kiss people of the same sex, joking that “Christmas comin early in Kansas City”.

The church’s announcement of the protest says: “New Zealand came forth with a young lassie that doesn’t have enough sense to put in a thimble. Now the world has elevated her to the status of an idol. Then the world began to weigh in. They think this and that and blah, blah, barf.”
The church has also recorded a parody of her song Royals for the protest, in which they describe ascending to heaven while the singer will “soon be sorry” in hell.
