Police warn Leicester City fans: ‘We won’t tolerate homophobic chanting at Brighton match’
Police have warned Leicester City football fans that homophobic chants will not be tolerated in a match against Brighton and Hove Albion FC today.
Referring to the 19:45 kick off this evening, Leicester police tweeted to urge fans to report any racist or homophobic chants to stewards.
The police tweeted: “We won’t tolerate racist or homophobic chanting at this Tuesday’s game against Brighton.
“If you hear it report it to steward or officer.”
The footage came immediately after the announcement of new guidelines for dealing with football hooligans in England and Wales last August which addressed homophobic chanting for the first time, and warn that social media abuse of fellow fans or players will result in prosecution.
