US: Ohio Governor supports Attorney General in appeal to keep same-sex marriage ban
The Governor of the US state of Ohio has announced that he supports the state’s Attorney General in his appeal of an imminent ruling to strike-down a same-sex marriage ban.
Governor John Kasich joined Attorney General Mike DeWine in saying he will support an appeal against an upcoming ruling by federal Judge Timothy Black, who on Friday announced that he intended to strike-down Ohio’s ban on same-sex marriage.
“He is gonna appeal it, he should,” said Kasich today in a statement today.
“The people of the state, including me, voted years ago on a constitutional amendment to say that marriage is between a man and a woman,” Kasich continued.
Kasich said Black “has overruled that in some respects and that’s what a federal judge can do. But it doesn’t change the fact of how people voted.”
