UKIP candidate: Gay sex is ‘disgusting’ and gays are ‘abnormal’
A UKIP prospective councillor who says gay sex is “disgusting” also considers gay people to be “abnormal” because they are a minority.
Douglas Denny, 66, who plans to stand for UKIP in Portsmouth City Council’s elections in May, has defended making homophobic remarks on a private members forum on the UKIP website.
In January 2013, it was revealed Mr Denny had said gay sex was “disgusting”.
He went on to say: “What irritates me is they [sic] way they and their leftie, neo-Commie followers seem to want to force the rest of us to consider them as normal.
“I just wish they would keep their homosexual nature and practices to themselves and stop trying to ram it down my throat telling me they are ‘normal’ when they are not.”
Standing by the comments in an interview with a local paper in Portsmouth, Mr Denny told The News he considered gay people to be “abnormal” because they were a minority of the population.
He said: “I wish that they wouldn’t try to keep ramming it down my throat that they are normal in their sexual practices.”
Mr Denny added: “I believe homosexuals have a perfect right to live their lives and wander around like everyone else and do not deserve any discrimination because of their sexuality.”
In an apparent UKIP breakdown in internal communication last month, PinkNews received answers to a readers’ Q&A confirmed by an official spokesman to have been approved by UKIP leader Nigel Farage which stated that the party was reviewing all of its policies including its previously stated opposition to same-sex marriage.
Afterwards, Mr Farage claimed equal marriage meant “opening up a very big can of worms”.
