UKIP candidate who says gay sex is ‘disgusting’ and gays are ‘abnormal’ urged to stand down
A UKIP prospective councillor who says gay sex is “disgusting” is facing calls to quit.
Douglas Denny, 66, who plans to stand for UKIP in Portsmouth City Council’s elections next month, yesterday defended making homophobic remarks by saying that gay people were “abnormal” because they are a minority .
He went on to say: “What irritates me is they [sic] way they and their leftie, neo-Commie followers seem to want to force the rest of us to consider them as normal.
“I just wish they would keep their homosexual nature and practices to themselves and stop trying to ram it down my throat telling me they are ‘normal’ when they are not.”
Tory Councillor Neill Young, of Portsmouth City Council, said he was shocked and appalled by the comments.
He told PinkNews.co.uk: “We are all entitled to our views, but the language that has been used has no place in modern Britain. I believe in equality and everyone should be treated as an individual and these comments are saddening and should not be expressed in any forum where someone else can read them.”
Cllr Young added: “I personally think that Mr Denny should do the honourable thing and step down as a candidate, as his comments are unacceptable in a country which strives for diversity.”
PinkNews has approached UKIP for comment.
