Canada: Anti-gay activist detained at border for spreading ‘hate propaganda’
Leading anti-gay activist Peter LaBarbera was detained at the Canadian border for his extremist views, which the country deemed ‘hate propaganda’.
LaBarbera is the president of ‘Americans For The Truth About Homosexuality’, a radical anti-gay group that believes that homosexuality is ‘an abomination’, comparing it to the Sandy Hook massacre.
He had been intending to go to a Saskatchewan Pro-Life Association convention, but was held by the Canadian Border Services Agency in Regina International Airport.
LaBarbara wrote on his website: “Upon deplaning, as I passed through Customs, I was delayed for further questioning by an official with the Canada Border Services Agency.
“Obviously, I had been flagged as a result of a campaign by the leftist group ‘Intolerance Free Weyburn’, which is specifically lobbying the Canadian government to deny my entry into Canada as the alleged purveyor of ‘hate’.
“All my belongings were searched, including my laptop and phone, to gather info for ‘Hate Propaganda’ evidence.
“A preliminary decision was made to deny my entrance into Canada on the basis that my speech at the SPLA would violate Canada’s ‘Hate Propaganda’ law.”
However, he was later allowed to stay in Canada, tweeting: “Canadian customs officials reverse earlier decision and let me stay in country to give my speech on Saturday.”
LaBarbera, who believes homosexuals are part of ‘Satan’s plan’, added that his release was “a win for true tolerance + diversity.”
