Man jailed for murdering wife who he called a ‘cheating lesbian whore’
A husband who stabbed his wife to death after discovering her same-sex affair has been sentenced to 12 years imprisonment.
Tony Vita, 47, was convicted last month for killing wife Marion Vita in their family home in Baillieston, Scotland, on September 20 last year.
The High Court in Glasgow sentenced Vita to 12 years imprisonment this morning.
The prosecution alleged that Vita stabbed his wife to death 4 times after discovering that she was having a same-sex affair with fraud analyst Elwira Rumniak, 34.
He claimed that Mrs Vita had accidentally fatally injured herself on the knife after falling onto a couch, saying he didn’t realise his wife was dying.
Giving evidence at the prosecution last month, Mr and Mrs Vitas’ 11-year-old son said: “My mum was unconscious, her lips were quite grey. She was not moving at all. She was lying on the sofa. I tried opening her eyes and talking to her.”
