Stacey Dash: It’s propaganda to say Republicans oppose equal marriage

Actress and Fox News pundit Stacey Dash has claimed it’s “propaganda” to say that Republicans are opposed to equal marriage.

She told TMZ: “[Republicans] are for equal marriage, we’re not against that… we’re not against that at all.

“We believe everyone should have the same rights.”

When queried about anti-gay Republicans, the Clueless star said: “That’s just propaganda. It’s not true, you know?

“That’s a certain amount of people, you can’t just throw a blanket over everyone because certain people have one opinion.”

Dash joined Fox News as a “cultural analysis and commentary” pundit last month.

Most state Republican parties openly oppose same-sex marriage, and the national Republican party platform states: “We believe that marriage, the union of one man and one woman must be upheld as the national standard, a goal to stand for, encourage, and promote through laws governing marriage.”

Earlier this week, failed Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry compared homosexuality to alcoholism.

Last week, the Texas Republican party has adopted a state platform endorsing the use of therapy to ‘cure’ homosexuality.

Republican candidate for Illinois Governor, Bruce Rauner, said earlier this month that if elected he would repeal same-sex marriage in the state.

The head of the anti-gay Family Research Council was recently invited to speak at the Republican Leadership Conference, in which he warned about the “New McCarthyism” of equal marriage.

Several Republican governors and Attorney Generals have actively fought the introduction of same-sex marriages in courts.

Today, Wisconsin Attorney General JB Van Hollen succeeded in getting equal marriage halted in the state.
