Adam Lambert: Sam Smith not used to people ‘dissecting’ his sexuality
Adam Lambert has said that fellow singer Sam Smith is struggling with his sexuality being “dissected” in the media.
The singer had ignited rumours last week, when the music video for his track ‘Leave Your Lover’ showed him at the centre of a gay love triangle.
Openly gay singer Adam Lambert, who is currently touring with Queen, told the Daily Star that he was helping to support Smith.
He said: “[Sam] told me he has never had an issue about his sexuality until now because everyone is making such a big deal about it which is crazy.
“Sam is going through that process of having his sexuality dissected and talked about.
“It’s hard because even though things have changed a lot since I came out it’s still a drama or talking point.”
Lambert came out as gay following his rise to fame on American Idol in 2009.
He is a prominent LGBT activist, and was last year awarded the GLAAD award for an openly gay LGBT media professional who promotes equality for the LGBT community.
After GLAAD announced that Lambert was to receive the award, Norm Kent, the editor and publisher of the South Florida Gay News, called the award “a joke.” Kent claimed in an editorial that Lambert hasn’t done anything to deserve the recognition.
