UK: Culture Club to reunite for televised concert next month
Boy George’s band Culture Club are reuniting for the first time in over a decade with a televised performance, it has been confirmed.
The band, who have not played live together in over 15 years, announced they will perform at BBC One’s Live at Edinburgh Castle next month.
The group – who rose to prominence in the 1980s – have not played together since their final performance in 1999.
They had previously announced they would reunite for a 12-date tour in December.
The show’s Executive Producer Guy Freeman says: “Having Culture Club perform for the first time in 15 years is fantastic in its own right, but for them to be part of an already amazing line-up really will make this a very special night.
“I’m sure the band’s legions of fans in Scotland will be delighted they’ve chosen the capital to kick-off their comeback.”
The event will take place on Saturday 19 July, ahead of the opening of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Boy George said: “Jon, Mikey, Roy and me are all looking forward to Culture Club coming together and playing live for the first time in 15 years for this BBC event in Edinburgh ahead of our UK tour in December.”
