US: Attorney claims gay people are ‘absolute thugs’ for wanting discrimination protections
An attorney from the anti-gay Christian legal group Liberty Counsel has said legislation to protect LGBT people against discrimination is “a tragedy”, and that gay people are “absolute thugs” for trying to gain equality.
Matt Barber made the claim on Friday’s ‘Faith and Freedom’ radio broadcast posted by RightWingWatch.
During the programme, Barber took aim at the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), which would provide federal protection against employment discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation, by saying it “must not pass”, because it would damage religious liberty in the US.
Labelling gay rights activists “homofascists”, Barber noted the case of former Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich, who stepped down after it was revealed that he had donated money to anti-gay marriage efforts before his appointment.
Barber said ENDA was “the crown jewel of the radical, sexual anarchist progressive left”, and that gay rights activists wanted it to pass to “make sacrosanct al sorts of sexual perversion to the detriment of those who want to exercise and live out their lives and carry out their faith.”
Looking back, Barber said President Obama had “homosexualised the military” through repealing Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.
“We have seen a military that used to recognize honour, dignity, things of that nature,” he said, “now recognises, as we’ve flipped it on its head, and now perversion is the order of the day instead of honour, dignity, service, and so forth”.
