Elton John to return to Russia and plans to meet up with Putin
Sir Elton John has said he intends to travel to Russia this November to perform, and will also try to meet up with President Vladimir Putin.
The Rocket Man singer performed twice in Russia last year, despite calls for him to boycott the country over its anti-gay laws.
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a bill into law last year which bans the “promotion of non-traditional sexual relationships” to minors.
Sir Elton tells Sky News, “I am going to Russia in November and I will try and meet Putin and I will try and talk to him. I don’t know what good it will do.”
He also said that if Jesus were alive today, he would be in favour of equal rights for gay people.
Sir Elton went on to tell Sky News that his wedding his wedding to David Furnish, previously planned for this summer, will now be held next year because of the government “messing up”.
