US: Gay couple claims they were kicked out of a Washington cab for kissing
A gay couple says they were kicked out of a Washington state taxi cab last weekend after the two shared a quick kiss.
Eric Williams told news station Q13 FOX News that he and his boyfriend, Diego, were headed home from a Tacoma gay club when the incident occurred. Williams said the pair shared a “peck,” which immediately garnered a reaction from the driver of the Yellow Cab.
Williams said to Q13: “[The cab driver] pulled off the road and told us to get out of the car, he wasn’t going to serve us.”
Williams, an Iraq war veteran who endured a “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” investigation during his service, said the discrimination was “shocking.”
The cab driver alleges that the exchange was more intimate than a quick kiss. Video from inside of the cab will be used to determine what happened during the exchange.
A Yellow Cab representative told Q13 that the cab driver will be terminated if the video matches up with the couple’s story.
Williams said: “It happened to the wrong person because I’m not going to stay silent. I’m going to let people know what happened so they know their rights so they stand up for themselves.”
