Andrew Lansley no longer Commons leader in Government reshuffle

A strong supporter of same-sex marriage in the Conservative Party, Andrew Lansley, has been removed from his position as leader of the House of Commons in today’s reshuffle.

Then Leader of the House of Commons Andrew Lansley, in 2012 announced his support for equal civil marriage and said he was “looking forward” to the publication of the government’s response to this year’s consultation.

He, at the time, said he wanted to ensure that churches were protected, as part of the upcoming legislation.

Replaced by William Hague, the former foreign secretary, Lansley may still be appointed a new position in the Cabinet, or as a minister.
