Chef who pretended to be gay and raped a woman sentenced to seven years in jail
A Chef from Westmeath, Ireland has been sentenced to seven years in jail for raping a woman after he told her he was gay and inviting her back to his flat.
48-year-old Samir Mansour, was convicted after two retrials. The 20-year-old victim went back to his flat, told there would be a party, after they met in a club.
The woman, who was 19 at the time, told Mansour she was a lesbian and he told her he was gay. Although she did not believe him, she thought he seemed nice and accepted an invitation to a party at Mansour’s house.
After making her an omelette, Mansour said his friends would no longer be coming, before he became “terrifying”, as she tried to leave, the victim said.
She was then grabbed by him, forced into the bedroom and raped. Afterwards he asked if they could be friends.
Mansour raped and orally raped his victim, and threatened to poke her eye out and kill her.
Mansour was tried in 2012, and was convicted of four charges, which included false imprisonment, but the guilty verdicts were found to be unsafe on appeal.
A jury back in 2013 failed to agree on a rape charge, but after a second retrial he was found guilty.
He was handed down a seven year sentence with one year suspended, by Mr Justice Barry White. The judge noted the violent nature of the attack, and that it had a lasting effect on the victim.
