Indiana anti-gay activist: I could marry my toaster, but people wouldn’t applaud it
An Indiana anti-gay activist has complained that people wouldn’t ‘applaud’ him marrying his toaster like they do same-sex marriage.
Micah Clark, the head of the American Family Association of Indiana, was complaining that the Tipton County Tribune had published a routine wedding announcement for a gay couple.
He told OneNewsNow: “The newspaper decided to print an announcement of two young men who exchanged their vows.
“And as I’ve said, simply because someone ‘exchanges vows’ doesn’t mean the newspaper has to applaud it with an announcement.
“I could exchange vows with my sister, with my computer, with my toaster – and that doesn’t mean the newspaper has to applaud it and print it.
“It was an effort to push the envelope of values and to promote same-sex marriage – and the paper went along with it.”
Judge Richard Young declared the Indiana Defence of Marriage Act unconstitutional on June 25.
However, marriages have been halted, after Republican Attorney General Greg Zoeller appealed the ruling, which is now headed to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.
