Bakery that refused lesbian wedding cake bakes cakes for ‘gay cure’ group
An Oregon bakery that refused to bake a wedding cake for a lesbian couple recently accepted an order from a ‘gay cure’ group.
Sweet Cakes By Melissa hit the news last year, when it refused to make a cake for a lesbian couple’s wedding, though it was later caught making divorce celebration cakes.
The bakery posted pictures on its Facebook page last month of several cakes it had made for the Restored Hope Network, adding: “Cakes for Restored Hope Network. What a wonderful ministry!”
According to the Advocate, the Network advocates ‘gay cure’ therapy, and is headed by ‘former lesbian’ Ann Paulk.
The group’s website states: “Restored Hope Network is a coalition of ministries serving those who desire to overcome sinful relational and sexual issues in their lives and those impacted by such behavior, particularly homosexuality.
“We have found that God is able to redeem us according to His best intentions for our gender, sexuality, and relationships, including those beset by homosexual behavior and identity. In Him, resides the fullness of grace, truth, and the power to transform lives.
“We hold up the power of God to redeem individuals and families from sin’s control, even in the area of homosexuality.”
