Man left unconscious after homophobic attack at Brighton Pride
Sussex Police are investigating a homophobic assault at Brighton Pride which left one man unconscious.
Detectives said three men were punched during the Pride celebrations on Saturday 2 August in Preston Park.
The incident occurred around 4.50pm near to the Hog Roast vans in the park.
One of the victims, a 44-year-old man, was punched in the face and knocked out. The other two victims, a 32-year-old man and a 43-year-old man, attempted to stop the suspects and were assaulted in the process.
The suspects reportedly directed racial and homophobic abuse towards two of the victims. All three were treated at the scene by St John Ambulance staff suffering from cuts and bruises.
Detective Constable Chris Bishop said: “The two suspects are described as being white men in their 20s or 30s with Irish accents. One of them was topless and had tattoos on his body and the other was wearing a blue vest top.
“This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable and we are appealing to anyone with information or saw what happened to speak to us on 101 or email [email protected] 1901 of 2/8.”
