Evan Davis and Simon Fanshawe appointed Museum of London governors
Broadcaster Evan Davis and Stonewall co-founder Simon Fanshawe have been appointed to serve as governors for the Museum of London.
Along with David Camp, chief executive of Stanhope, and Professor Sir Richard Trainor, rector-elect of Exeter College Oxford, Mr Davis and Mr Fanshawe will take up their posts on 1 October.
The appointments follow an extensive search across all sectors and interviews with the Museum of London’s Director Sharon Ament and Deputy Mayor for Education and Culture Munira Mirza.
Clive Bannister, chairman of the Museum of London and CEO of Phoenix Group Holdings PLC, said: “We have set our sights high for what the Museum of London can achieve in the future and with ambitions like this it was necessary to recruit the best to help us achieve our goals.
“Our new governors will bring exceptional energy and expertise to the Museum of London at a critical time when we have great ambitions to achieve.
“The four new governors are all leaders in their fields and were chosen for their ability to help us positively impact the lives of Londoners and visitors to this great city. I look forward to them joining an already strong board.”
The board of the museum is comprised of members appointed by both the Mayor of London and the City of London. Governor positions are unpaid and act as trustees of the Museum of London.”
Mr Davis, who currently co-anchors the Today programme on Radio 4, spoke to PinkNews in the same month about the progressive nature of the corporation regarding LGBT staff.
Simon Fanshawe, along with Labour politician Michael Cashman and actor Sir Ian Mckellen, co-founded gay rights charity Stonewall in 1989.
