Family Research Council: Judges should be abolished if they keep ruling in favour of equal marriage
The Family Research Council has called for the abolition of the judiciary, because “unelected judges” keep ruling in favour of same-sex marriage.
Delivering a sermon at Virginia’s Cornerstone Chapel, the group’s president Tony Perkins called for the court system to be abolished, because judges keep finding in favour of same-sex marriage.
He said: “Just this week, another judge struck down a state marriage amendment.
“One of the most novel was Judge Jones in Pennsylvania back in May – he struck down Pennsylvania’s marriage amendment saying ‘it’s time to throw marriage laws onto the ash heap of history’.
“Frankly, I think it’s time we throw the opinions of unelected judges onto the dunghill of history where they belong.”
However, shortly before he called for judges to be abolished, Perkins praised the Supreme Court for upholding freedom of religion in the Hobby Lobby case.
He said: “The Supreme Court handed down a major decision in religious liberty, the Hobby Lobby case. A great victory by the way.”
He said: “Here’s a test of what is a true religious freedom, a freedom that’s based on orthodox religious viewpoints. It has to have a track record, it has to come forth from religious orthodoxy.
“There is no place, there is nothing for them to stand on and say that same-sex marriage has standing in the orthodox Christian faith.”
