Iranian lesbian couple marry in Stockholm
An Iranian lesbian couple who escaped their home country have been married in Stockholm by a gay Imam.
Sahar Mosleh and Maryam Iranfar – who are both from the oppressive Islamic state – held their wedding ceremony in Sweden, during Stockholm Pride.
The pair, who met online, are now expecting their first child together in their new life.
Algerian-born Imam, Ludovid Mohamed Zahed, who is also gay, spoke of his joy at seeing the couple wed.
According to the Mail, he said: “I’m glad that this is a happy couple who can now form family after many years of struggle.
“It’s a long journey to leave your homeland, come to a foreign country and manage to form a new life together.
“I am very grateful for this beautiful wedding, and to be able to give my blessing to this happy couple.”
Homosexuality is legally indistinguishable from rape in Iran, with hundreds of lesbians forced by the regime to undergo gender reassignment to ‘fix’ their sexuality.
The pair could have also been subjected to 50 lashes if they were caught – which may have proven fatal for Mosleh, who suffers from congenital brittle bones.
